Moving to Stockholm

arthou.se

This July, I’m moving to Stockholm, Sweden for a year. My boyfriend is doing the Interactive Art Director program at Hyper Island, and I’m going along with him to check out a new design-heavy city and fulfill my dream of living in Europe!

We’ve created arthou.se, a travel blog, where we’ll be writing about cool Swedish things and our general experience there. We’ve also made an online stoop sale to sell what we can’t take with us. Many items have sold, but gems abound! For instance, this Art Deco Wardrobe, it could be yours! Or perhaps you want a sewing machine? Maybe these speakers? A CRIMPER?! The moving sale is over, thank you to all shoppers!

While abroad, I’ll be continuing to design and develop via Dossier, so should you have any design needs, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. And be sure to stick around, because I’ll still be blogging about all of my favorite non-Swedish things here.

xo,
Chesley

This is one of my favorite pictures of all time.

Each year, for the past 30 years, the Goldberg family has taken a portrait of themselves. The result is Arrow of Time, a wonderfully fascinating portrait of aging and family. A definite must-see!

And, recently, Nicolas has started his own series with his wife and baby!

Walking Men 99 by Maya Barkai

Walking Men 99

I love Maya Barkai’s Walking Men 99. A block-spanning installation at 99 Church St in Brooklyn, as part of Downtown Alliance’s Re:Construction Public Art Program which seeks to beautify stalled construction.

Food for Thought

“Trying to depict everything is a fool’s game, and ultimately not that interesting—because it’s just as confusing and complicated as life. So then the task becomes limiting your scope, and within a limited scope providing amazing complexity and depth. That’s this process of ‘lens making’: coming up with a lens that you can point at all of reality but that only lets through certain things. That process is digital storytelling. It’s a process of exclusion—not a process of mimicry.”

Super: Hi Mica
Mica: Hi Leo! So my AC is just too cold in my bedroom, I know its a big favor but could we move it? I know its a pain.
Super: Sure Mica, your a nice girl, you know I’ll do it for you.
Mica: Thanks so much, I really appreciate it, and also I know its a big job so I would be happy to pay you.
Super: It’s no problem. You like steak?
Mica: ….uh yeah
Super: You should come by the restaurant where I work sometime, sit by the bar and get a drink, I’m always here. You don’t seem to have a lot of friends, you know if you don’t know what to do with yourself.
Mica:..oh…
