Archive for the ‘FYI’

Since it basically costs and arm and a leg to eat out in Stockholm, I am getting well acquainted with the kitchen. Thank heavens for Rouxbe, online video cooking school!

well done

I really like this because I always put a lot of thought into how I express laughing via chat and I’m never sure how well it’s understood by the other person. When I think something is absolutely hilarious, I always make sure to type “ahahahaha” because I think that’s the most literal transcription of my hearty laugh. I’ve asked my friends if they’ve noticed this, but sadly, they only see a typo. Alas.

Elna Baker

If like me, you’ve listened to every single This American Life episode at least once (and count it as one of the better things to have ever happened to you), then you might be looking for similar radio shows to fill the void in between episodes. On good days, these come close: The Moth and Story Corps, but I was recently re-listening to TAL’s Matchmaker episode, where I re-heard the oldie-but-goodie tale by Elna Baker about working in FAO Schwarz as a nurse in the doll adoption ward. I went to her website and found this gem of a page with all her live performances. Girl is funny! Definitely worth checking out.
