Kim Bost, Pencil Factory & Jessica Hische

I love this personal piece by Kim Bost. I came across it in The Pencil Factory’s illustration-newsprint spectacular which I was graciously given a copy of by my studiomate Jessica Hische, who is also featured in it.

Still Crazy About Courtin
Super: Hi Mica
Mica: Hi Leo! So my AC is just too cold in my bedroom, I know its a big favor but could we move it? I know its a pain.
Super: Sure Mica, your a nice girl, you know I’ll do it for you.
Mica: Thanks so much, I really appreciate it, and also I know its a big job so I would be happy to pay you.
Super: It’s no problem. You like steak?
Mica: ….uh yeah
Super: You should come by the restaurant where I work sometime, sit by the bar and get a drink, I’m always here. You don’t seem to have a lot of friends, you know if you don’t know what to do with yourself.
Mica:..oh…

Williamsburg Back in the Day

This is the corner of Bedford and North 9th around 1987. Love everything about this picture. Gowanus Lounge has a “then and now” comparison.
PS. The photo was taken by Anders Goldfarb.
